The charity PHAB was founded in 1957 to create opportunities for disabled and non-disabled children and young people to experience life-enhancing activities together – breaking down community barriers and reducing social isolation. There are now around 130 local clubs across England and Wales.
Hounslow PHAB runs a weekly Youth Club, trips and a residential week in Derbyshire in August. It is open to all young people between the ages of 11-25. Activities include sports such as football and basketball, arts & crafts, games, seasonal activities, life skills sessions and more.
PHAB is run by a mixture of paid staff and volunteers and staffing levels need to be high to achieve good results.
This year Inspire Hounslow is funding three trained youth workers for the year 2022/23.
